The Wine Independent Sarah Mayo - 08 Nov 23
An equal parts blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay, Pol Roger Brut Reserve NV 75% of which comes from the 2018 vintage and 25% of reserve wines. This is the House signature cuvée accounting for around 80% of all production. It is beautifully fresh on the nose with delicate notes of apple tart, fresh quince, honey, a light toastiness and a whiff of elderflower. The medium-bodied palate has clean acidity and ripe orchard fruit with a little bit of toast coming through on the finish. A classic champagne style with an eight gram per liter dosage.

(lot #591680 on bottle) Medium gold color, with a lively, energetic mousse. Toasty, leesy and loaded with orchard fruits on the nose, which also shows a waxy lanolin note reminiscent of Vouvray. Full and rich in the mouth, with flavors of buttered toast and ripe apple that are nicely supported by solid, harmonious acidity. Broad through the finish and long, with a late note of sweet pear.

Champagne

Champagne, exclusively from France's Champagne region, is synonymous with luxury and celebration. Made primarily from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, it undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle, creating its signature bubbles. Flavours range from crisp green apple and citrus to rich, toasty notes of nuts and honey. Yeast contact in the bottle contributes to pastry and brioche notes, which are a key part of good quality Champagne. Top producers include Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, and Krug.
